Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval - award amount (up to $200 -000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)
Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited
A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work
Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a Master of Social Work
Licensure: - You must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level - and must be able to provide supervision for licensure
English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f)
Experience: Experience Requirement: You must possess one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level
Examples of specialized experience include - but are not limited to: Serving as the sole practitioner in a specialty program and typically provide direct patient care services in the program area
oversees the daily operation of the program - develop policies and procedures for program operation - and prepare reports and statistics
may be responsible for the program's budget - developing and monitoring staff compliance with practice - standards and guidelines on documentation - workload - data entry - ethical practice and service delivery
provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data and computerized programs to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service
Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment - demonstrating progressively more professional competency
In addition to above experience - you must demonstrate the following Knowledge - Skills and Abilities: Skill in coordinating and implementing one or more specialty program(s) - across the facility
Skill in local policy and practice development - procedures - and/or practice guidelines for the program as prescribed by the program handbook or national directive
Skill in organizing work - setting priorities - meeting multiple deadlines - and evaluating assigned program area(s)
Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to further program goals and enhance patient centered care
Ability to provide the full range of supervisory duties including assignment of work to be performed

and selection of staff - training - and recommendation of awards - advancements - and when appropriate - disciplinary action
Ability to oversee the fiscal matters of the functions supervised (including fund controls - contracts - and equipment expenditures) - forecast resource and equipment needs - and administer the allocated budget

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The Social Work incumbent in this position is organizationally aligned under the Deputy Associate Chief Staff - Behavioral Health Service (Deputy ACOS-BHS) and has direct responsibility for several programs and professional development within Behavioral Health Service
Incumbent has direct administrative oversight of the Suicide Prevention Program Manager - facility COMPACT Act Coordinator - Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Managers - and the Supervisory Social Worker - ED and Acute Psychiatric care
Duties may include but are not limited to: The incumbent has very broad responsibility for staff including licensed - unlicensed - and trainees in a broad range of programs within the Behavioral Health Service
Incumbent develops - implements and manages specialized psychosocial assessment intervention and evaluation service programs in Evidence-based Treatments - Tele mental Health - BHIP - PCMHI - Community Based Outpatient Clinics Behavioral Health Services - Quality Improvement - Performance Measures - and Peer Review
Work activities and supervision significantly impact the ability of staff to provide comprehensive services to the 70 -000 Veterans served annually at eight sites in the Las Vegas Valley - Pahrump and Laughlin
Very wide latitude and independent judgment are exercised in making decisions affecting staff and other resources associated with the Psychology staff and assigned programs
The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility for several complex programs within BHS
The incumbent manages budget - space - and administrative resources for the four programs listed above
Establishes and maintains work schedules - tours of duty - time and attendance policies and requirements for all direct report staff to ensure the provision of services in an efficient - effective - and timely manner - based upon relevant regulations - labor organization policies - and guidelines
Serves as representative of the Behavioral Health Service to external committees - including Service Chiefs executive meeting and the Medical Executive Council
