The Department of Neurology and Neurological Sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to oversee the faculty affairs function. The successful candidate will possess superior critical thinking skills and will serve as an expert resource, providing guidance on all aspects of employment activities for faculty and academic staff while partnering with faculty leadership to enhance the faculty affairs landscape.
Duties include*:
Direct staff and provide leadership to achieve goals and vision of the organization and the day-to-day operations. Responsible for hiring and retaining staff, career coaching, personal development for direct reports and accountable for the performance of employees.
Conduct strategic analysis of data, policy, and other information relevant to critical functional area(s) of faculty affairs for the organization. Identify and resolve issues of substantial significance that affect the faculty affairs function beyond the immediate organization.
Consult and advise senior faculty and administrative leadership on program and policy development. May provide input to university leadership on institutional, academic, and administrative policies and guidelines.
Ensure compliance with school and university policies. Manage university faculty conflict of interest requirements for the organization as needed, utilizing institutional and departmental understanding of relationships in relevant fields.
Serve on school or Provost's Office committees to provide input on faculty affairs issues. Represent the organization to other university departments including, but not limited to, the Provost's Office; Office of General Counsel; Office of Faculty Development; Office of Technology Licensing; Dean of Research; Office of Development; and other academic units.
Manage the direction of internal academic and administrative policy development for programs and administrative operations. Interpret and explain policy and programmatic development and changes to department chairs and managers on programmatic and policy development.
Oversee the collection, management, analysis, and/or reporting of faculty data. Assist in ensuring compliance with related policies. May oversee allocation of the organization's resources.
May independently or in collaboration with the Provost's Office, direct faculty and/or academic staff supervisors and managers in the interpretation and implementation of faculty affairs policies, procedures, and programs.
May provide input to university leadership on institutional academic and administrative policies and guidelines for improvement.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree or higher in higher education administration, human resources, business administration, or a related field.
Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in faculty affairs, academic administration, or a similar role within higher education institutions.
Demonstrated ability to employ critical thinking in analyzing complex issues, formulating strategic solutions, and making informed decisions that positively impact faculty affairs.
Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing teams, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
In-depth understanding of faculty governance, academic policies, and regulations, as well as best practices in faculty recruitment, retention, and evaluation.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and administration.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree and seven years of experience working with administrative processes, or combination of education and relevant experience, and three years of lead, supervisor or manager experience.

The expected pay range for this position is $147,805.00 to $182,578.00 per annum.
