BASIC FUNCTION Under the general supervision of the principal, the Assistant Principal coordinates all pupil personnel programs and functions, including the campus safety plan, student discipline program, campus supervision, student registration and scheduling, attendance, health services, registrar, master schedule development, and assists with teacher observation, supervision, and evaluation. The Assistant Principal is responsible for securing and overseeing adequate supervision and security at all school events and ensures appropriate staffing, coordinates security personnel, and maintains a safe and orderly environment for students and guests.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Coordinate the comprehensive guidance program, including college, career, and social and emotional support; oversee related school activities
• Organize, coordinate, and supervise schoolwide safety plan, student discipline, including all activities that might pertain to emergency/evacuation processes, positive behavior and supports, and suspension/expulsion
• Confer with students, parents, teachers, and community agencies; respond to and resolve parent, student, and staff complaints
• Supervise students on campus before and after school; monitor students during lunch and passing period
• Secure and oversee adequate supervision and security at all school events, including evening activities, i.e., athletic contests, dances, and senior activities
• Establish, coordinate, and maintain communication with community and parent groups; attend and conduct a variety of meetings and events; develop correspondence to promote school activities and achievements
• Assist in monitoring and organizing attendance and registrar functions
• Maintain work hours extending beyond school hours for other professional duties or functions such as meetings, supervision, or school events
• Support articulation with feeder schools
• Develop and supervise recordkeeping, transcripts, and reporting systems; supervise the process of student progress reporting and distribution
• Assist principal and instructional deans in the construction of master schedule, including teacher assignments and room utilization
• Serve as a liaison to court, social services, and law enforcement
• Coordinate all campus and activity supervision
• Ensure culturally relevant and responsive processes and programs that support students
• Demonstrate equity, access, cultural responsiveness, and inclusivity in decision-making, communication, and processes
• Assist in the recruitment and selection of site personnel
• Make recommendations concerning the revision and updating of student rules, regulations, and handbooks
• Implement an effective student registration process, including student scheduling
• Work with various public and private agencies interested in the welfare of students
• Supervise and evaluate, as assigned, Grade Level Coordinators (GLCS), School Psychologists, Intervention Counselor, security, and classified staff
• Assist the principal and deans in teacher observation, supervision, evaluations, and curriculum development
• Interpret district and school policies in regard to pupil personnel issues
• Assist principal and instructional deans in the direction and coordination of staff development programs
• Assist principal and other staff with the coordination and maintenance of various school budgets
• Equity, access, and inclusion practices as it relates to students, parents, staff, and other stakeholders
• Use and application of technology and innovation
• Principles, techniques, strategies, goals, and objectives of public education
• Methods, techniques, procedures, and strategies concerning the assessment and evaluation of behavior management programs
• Current legal mandates, policies, regulations, and operational procedures pertaining to student discipline

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Persons performing service in this position classification will be expected to perform Medium work, which involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. If someone can do medium work, we determine that he or she can also do sedentary and light work. (Per the Code of Federal Regulations - Section 404. 1567 "Physical Exertion Requirements?
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment
• This type of work involves sitting for a portion of the time, but will involve walking or standing for extended periods

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Experience:
Five years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the secondary level
Education:
Equivalent to the completion of an earned Master of Arts or higher degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, instructional technology, or a closely related field
LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT
Possession of a valid California Administrative Services Credential
