NEC is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Work Order Specialist for its Lakeside Office. The service territory covers 10,000 square miles, extending from Arizona’s White Mountains in the northeast to the northwestern region of New Mexico.  NEC provides service to rural communities built on strong personal connections, where neighbors know one another—aligning with the cooperative’s values of trust, service, and community. RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position will supervise the operation of NEC’s Meter shop personnel so as to deliver efficient, safe and reliable system performance..

Duties Performed Regularly

• Responsible for supervising, directly or indirectly, the work of all metering operations.
• Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in the installation, removal, exchanges and readings of meters and other smart grid devices as needed.
• Reviews for approval service entrance panels, CT’s, PT’s and wiring for residential and commercial systems. Develops NEC standards and specifications for all metering systems in conjunction with Engineering.
• Supervise, coordinate and verify the proper installation and control of NEC load control devices, including the operational software systems.
• Monitors the reading, testing and maintenance of substation meters.
• Plan, direct and coordinate the timely and accurate meter data collection activities of NEC.
• Responsible for coordinating metering programs and metering software with other NEC software and departments to ensure that metering data is compatible with billing requirements.
• Ensure meter data collection schedules are coordinated with the Financial Services Department to meet the billing schedule requirements each month.
• Manage and monitor the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) Data retrieval and transfer into Customer Billing software and ensure regulatory mandates are being met.
• Assists in the preparation and submission of technical reports as required by regulatory agencies.
• Oversee and direct inventory of all metering materials, tools and equipment, to include appropriate requisitions and other prescribed inventory controls.
• Oversee and direct all vehicles assigned to the meter shop.
• Performs other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Formal Education

• Associates Degree of Applied Science Degree or related discipline. Or a Journeyman Polyphase Meterman certification obtained through a formal 4-year metering apprenticeship program.

Previous Job Experience

• Minimum ten (10) years of experience in electric utility metering.
• Supervisory experience in the electrical utility industry is preferred.

Special Skills

• Have a thorough knowledge of power system operations.
• Have working knowledge of metering system software, including AMI Systems.
• Have a thorough knowledge and understanding of all applicable safety rules, regulations and practices.
• Have strong written and oral communications skills.
• Have leadership and supervisory ability.
• Have the ability to perform efficiently within deadline requirements.
• Have a strong desire to work with people.
• Have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license within 30 days of employment.

HOURS OF OPERATION: - 4/10s - (Monday through Thursday).  The normal office hours are 7 AM to 6 PM.
