Overview The hourly rate for this position is $19.67 per hour for Undergraduate III and is non-negotiable.

Under direction, incumbents must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work.
This Statement of Work provides technical and analytical support in the fields of Computer Engineering, with potential application to Electrical Engineering and related engineering disciplines. It covers the need for a student services contractor to develop and modify hardware and software solutions for the test and evaluation of emerging Radio Frequency (RF) systems. The work will primarily involve modification of existing software configurations, development of new applications, and compiling/operating these applications under development. Basic RF principles and the use of Software Defined Radios with Linux operating systems are relevant. The student contractor should be familiar with programming concepts, data structures, and basic electronics principles.
The Allied Interoperability project supports multinational experimentation. Experiments include Computer Networks, RF Systems, Communications Systems, Computational Capabilities, etc. This effort requires a myriad of skills including test and evaluation, hardware design, field test, programming.
Responsibilities The student contractor shall provide analytical and technical support in the following areas as specified under individual task orders, to the work sponsor.
Electrical Engineering and Software Support (Emphasis Area):
Develop, test, and sustain source code associated with open-source applications used in RF systems (primary focus).
Develop, deploy, and maintain applications and scripts associated with RF systems under test (primary focus).
Assist with electrical system design, circuit analysis, and PCB layout
Assist assembly and troubleshooting of electrical and electromechanical test systems
Assist with interpretation of RF signals and conduct quality analysis
Support electrical integration and wiring of test systems
Qualifications Undergraduate Student 3: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 90% of the work independently. Is not required to be an SDSU Student.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:
Undergraduate 3: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering major preferred; relevant majors such as Materials Science, Systems Engineering, or Applied Physics may be suitable given relevant coursework and/or work experience.
Relevant coursework and/or experience:
Differential equations
Calculus 1, 2 & 3
Programming courses (Python, MATLAB, C++, etc.)
Physics (mechanics, electromagnetics)
Systems Engineering
DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
Embedded Systems programming
RF and digital hardware test and troubleshooting

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong emphasis on: Python, Java, C#, C++, JavaScript, or MATLAB programming experience.
Ability to read and implement technical documents, engineering drawings, or test standards.
Flexible learning new tools and technologies based on project needs.
Experience in deploying software and hardware systems.
Independent/self-starter who can operate under minimal oversight
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
ADDITIONAL APPLICANT INFORMATION:
This position will require the employee to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
The student will work at NIWC Pacific Seaside and Model Range.
Due to the regulations established by the Department of Defense, only US Citizens may qualify.
This is a student position and is limited to working 20 hours per week.

Candidate must reside in California and live within a commutable distance from SDSU at time of hire.
