Full Time - Maintenance Tech II - Sports Fields
The Blinn College District is searching for a Full Time - Maintenance Tech II - Sports Fields at our Brenham Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities are listed below:
Job Summary
Performs routine maintenance and repairs with moderate independence. Supports established preventive maintenance programs and conducts basic troubleshooting of building systems within an assigned trade while continuing to develop technical proficiency. Perform skilled and semi-skilled labor in various aspects of Athletic Field Maintenance including turf and skinned areas maintenance, irrigation, construction and related service activities for the college's sports fields.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Perform preventative maintenance as per established preventative maintenance program, and demonstrate proactive maintenance procedures. Perform athletic field and grounds maintenance including mowing, aerifying, topdressing, seeding, sodding, trimming, field painting, irrigation and turf care, fertilizing; spraying chemical including insecticides, herbicides, soil conditioners and related chemicals (if appropriately licensed); following proper safety precautions; installation and care of trees, shrubs, proper pruning techniques and tree removal. Perform preventative maintenance to synthetic turf areas.
2. Respond to and complete work requests for problems with building systems. Perform maintenance on irrigation systems including preventative maintenance, replacement of heads, broken pipes, winterization and summarization of irrigation system and monitor flow rates on fields (if appropriately licensed). Perform repairs to synthetic turf areas.
3. Troubleshoot and make repairs to complex budling systems, including turf, sports fields, irrigation systems, and maintenance equipment.
4. Participate in projects relating to building systems, grounds and sports fields.
5. Participate actively in established safety programs designed to provide a safe work
environment.
6. Perform other related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
1. High School diploma or GED equivalent; supplemented by vocational or special training in the trade.
2. At least two (2) years of progressive experience in the relevant duties as they pertain to the job description.
3. Apprentice-level state license (where applicable)
4. Valid driver's license in good standing.

4. Complete basic repairs and troubleshooting
5. Read basic schematics and drawings
6. Participate in safety programs and after-hours response as required

8. Ability to read, write, and communicate with co-workers, supervisors and internal and external customers.
0. Near visual acuity, depth perception, field of vision and color vision.
10. Ability to stoop, bend, climb stairs and ladders, crawling, stretching, twisting of upper body, prolong standing on concrete floors and walking over uneven terrain, and ability to lift 50 pounds and unstable objects.
11. Successful completion of job related, continuing and routine education as assigned by supervisor as required.
12. Knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal laws and regulations relevant to program areas, principles and practices.
13. Regular and punctual attendance at the workplace is required. Ability to work overtime may be required to complete a job in progress, or to handle emergency situations that may occur outside of regular work hours.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Multi-trade experience.
2. Experience in higher education or public facilities.
3. State Pesticide License
4. State Irrigation License
5. National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER): Core + Trade Level 1 Certification
6. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour or 30-hour Certification
Preferred Competencies
Knowledge of the use and proper disposal of chemicals used in groundskeeping (horticulture, turf management, and floriculture).

Work hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:30 pm with occasional nights and weekends as needed

Yearly leave time includes:
