Departmental Overview
Berkeley Law's executive education platform connects legal practitioners, investors, executives, and nonprofit leaders to a wide range of professional development training programs. Berkeley Law Executive Education helps legal practitioners and business professionals, as well as government and nonprofit leaders, meet their professional goals by delivering world-class certificate programs that teach hard and soft skills, elicit insights that lead to more effective problem-solving, and expand participants' networks. The program draws upon the expertise of UC Berkeley faculty, the law school's extensive alumni network, and deep relationships with business and legal leaders to provide program participants with access to thought leaders from a range of disciplines. Many of the programs from Berkeley Law Executive Education provide for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credits (MCLE). Programs offering MCLE credit include monthly webinars, online courses, and in-person bootcamps and workshops.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Innovation and Initiatives, the Program Manager, Custom Programs serves as the primary relationship manager for Berkeley Law's custom revenue-generating programs. This role is responsible for the health, retention, and growth of high-value, multi-year maintenance contracts, as well as the execution of complex corporate intake processes. It ensures that client needs are effectively translated into scalable, high-margin educational offerings that align with Berkeley Law's academic standards and strategic priorities. The position also supports end-to-end program delivery by coordinating with internal stakeholders, including faculty and subject matter experts, while managing implementation roadmaps, budgets, and performance tracking. In addition, it contributes to market outreach and partnership development to expand Berkeley Law's presence in the executive education market and strengthen long-term revenue streams.

Custom Scope
Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Innovation and Initiatives, the Program Manager, Custom Programs serves as the primary relationship manager for Berkeley Law's custom revenue-generating programs. This role is responsible for the health and growth of high-value maintenance contracts and the execution of complex corporate intakes. This position ensures that client needs are translated into scalable, high-margin educational offerings.
Responsibilities
Strategic Account Management & Revenue Retention
Manages the end-to-end delivery of high-value custom contracts, with a specific focus on multi-year maintenance agreements and recurring revenue streams.
Serves as a primary strategic liaison for corporate partners, supporting alignment of educational content with industry trends and client objectives.
Monitors program performance and client satisfaction to support contract renewals and identify opportunities for program expansion within existing accounts.
Consultative Sales & Intake Management
Facilitates consultative intake discussions with prospective clients, translating organizational needs into bespoke educational solutions.
In partnership with the Director and Assistant Dean, designs implementation roadmaps, drafts service agreements, and develops sustainable program budgets that meet departmental margin targets.
Coordinates with faculty and subject matter experts to ensure the 'Solution Design' aligns with Berkeley Law's academic standards.
Market Outreach & Relationship Development
Conducts targeted outreach and digital networking (e.g., LinkedIn) to generate leads and support Berkeley Law's visibility in the global executive education market.
Identifies and cultivates prospective strategic and alliance partnerships to drive joint business opportunities and enhance customer value.
Analyzes market trends and the competitive landscape of legal education to recommend strategic adjustments to pricing, delivery formats, and content strategy.
Operational Integrity & Reporting
Ensures all project milestones, client communications, and deliverables are meticulously documented.
Maintains dashboards to monitor program ROI and the health of the custom programming pipeline.
Collaborates cross-functionally to support seamless program execution.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of strategic account management principles, including client retention, contract renewals, and recurring revenue models.
Demonstrated ability to manage high-value corporate or legal accounts, with a track record of revenue retention and contract renewal.
Skill in consultative sales and needs assessment to translate organizational objectives into customized educational solutions.
Strong quantitative and analytical skills to perform complex market and financial analysis.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring operational accuracy, documentation integrity, and timely execution of deliverables.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in standard business software and database applications (e.g., Microsoft Office and Google Workspace), with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
Proven ability to manage complex projects independently within a digital project management framework (e.g., Asana, Salesforce, or similar).
Strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) tools, reporting dashboards, and data tracking methods to monitor ROI and pipeline performance.

Experience in instructional design and/or curriculum development for adult learners.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Law, Public Policy, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted annual salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $105,000.00 - $120,000.00.
This is an exempt, monthly-paid position.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week) Career position eligible for full UC benefits.
