SUMMARY OF ORGANIZATION/UNIT Ed&IS is a vibrant intellectual community with an emphasis on issues of urban education and equity in education. The Educational Leadership Program (ELP), a self-supporting Ed.D. degree program within the Department of Education, is committed to promoting innovative and change-oriented educational leaders. ELP strives to hone students' theoretical and practical knowledge about pre-K - 16 educational topics and about leadership. The program is committed to educating practitioners who can improve equity, access, and outcomes for all students.
Levels of Supervision Received Work is assigned directly by the ELP Director. Financial support provided by the Director of Business Administration. Incumbent independently prioritizes and completes ongoing tasks following established ELP guidelines and School/University policies. Under general supervision, the incumbent independently prioritizes, plans, and executes ongoing work, exercising sound judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Established ELP guidelines, as well as School and University policies, serve as the primary framework for operations. The role requires discretion in handling complex, sensitive, and confidential matters.
DESCRIPTION OF POSITION The Academic Coordinator III for the Educational Leadership Program (ELP) supports the program's mission through leadership in admissions, partnerships, evaluation, and external engagement. The position reviews applications and supports admissions screening processes; cultivates and sustains strategic partnerships; conducts research related to Educational Leadership with the purpose to improve curricular offerings for students; pursues and develops grant proposals to secure external funding; and designs and facilitates workshops, particularly in restorative justice, within UCLA and across the greater Los Angeles community. The role advances equity-centered leadership development while strengthening ELP's programmatic growth, community presence, and resource development.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Programmatic/Implementation/Management
Provide strategic leadership to advance program design, implementation, and continuous improvement aligned with ELP's mission and equity-centered goals.
Lead the integration and application of restorative justice principles within curriculum, professional learning, and program structures.
Apply design-based and participatory methodologies to support innovation and the development of responsive, practice-based workshops.
Oversee and manage complex initiatives, including coordinating across stakeholders, and ensuring accountability for outcomes.
Exercise independent judgment in managing competing priorities, ensuring timely execution of high-impact work, and aligning efforts with institutional and development goals.
B. Community Engagement
Build, sustain, and strategically leverage relationships with schools, districts, community organizations, sponsors, industry partners, government agencies, and the University of California system.
Lead outreach efforts that expand ELP's presence and impact across the greater Los Angeles region and beyond.
Facilitate and lead professional learning experiences, including workshops grounded in restorative justice and equity-centered leadership.
Communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively across diverse audiences, fostering collaboration and negotiating mutually beneficial outcomes.
C. Data and Evaluation
Lead and contribute to program design, policy, and practice activities in Educational Leadership.
Utilize data to assess program effectiveness, support continuous improvement, and guide strategic decision-making.
Identify funding opportunities and support the Director in the development of competitive grant proposals to secure external resources.
Manage reporting, analysis, and dissemination of program outcomes to internal and external stakeholders.
Utilize technology and administrative systems to support data tracking, and project management.
