The Cardiothoracic Imaging Fellowship is a one-year Non-Standard Training Program at UT Health San Antonio. The fellowship’s purpose is to train board-certified or board-eligible radiologists in the imaging analysis and interpretation of cardiothoracic disease, and be able to independently operate non-invasive CTI service, including the expert acquisition, processing, and interpretation of cardiovascular (CV) computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. The Cardiothoracic Faculty team has board certified faculty attendings who are experts in the field of chest radiography, thoracic CT/MR imaging, CT angiography (including coronary CTA), and cardiac CT/MR imaging. The radiology department at UT Health San Antonio has state of the art equipment including DCT scanners and 1.5 T and 3.0 T MR Scanners. UT Health San Antonio and University Hospital have nationally recognized lung transplant programs and a Level 1 Trauma Center. Cardiothoracic Fellowship - Department of Radiology
A fellow’s experience includes:
Advanced training in interpretation of imaging studies in the common and rare, acute and chronic cardiothoracic diseases, and performance of diagnostic cardiothoracic procedures.
All aspects of clinical cardiothoracic imaging.
Exposed to PET/CT and other pertinent cardiothoracic nuclear medicine exams with the Nuclear Medicine team.
Encouraged to participate in scientific research projects.
Opportunities to present research at radiology society meetings.
Fellows participate in multidisciplinary pulmonary, surgical thoracic oncology, radiology-pathology, and cardiology conferences.
Educate by conducting resident and medical student lectures.
