Saint Mark’s School is an independent Episcopal coeducational day school rooted in Altadena, California, and currently serving students from a temporary campus in Pasadena as the school rebuilds following the Eaton Fire. Founded in 1960, the school serves the needs of up to 350 Preschool through Sixth grade students from diverse ethnic, racial, religious, and economic backgrounds. Saint Mark’s School seeks a dynamic Elementary Associate Teacher to contribute to a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative learning community. The Associate Teacher supports the lead classroom teachers and grade-level teams in the care, supervision, and instruction of elementary students.

Primary Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Support the lead teachers in implementing the daily classroom program in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Saint Mark’s School.
Supervise and engage students in classroom, outdoor, and school activities, including small-group instruction and student support.
Foster a caring, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environment for all students.
Build positive and professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Assist with classroom organization, preparation of materials, and maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming learning environment.
Support student social-emotional and academic growth and communicate observations or concerns to the lead teachers.
Participate in supervision duties, meetings, professional development, and school events as assigned.
Helps with setting-up, cleaning, and putting away outdoor play materials and equipment.
Demonstrate professionalism through collaboration, punctuality, confidentiality, flexibility, and sound judgment.
Complete required trainings, including CPR, first aid, and mandated reporting.
Perform other duties as assigned in support of the school community.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree; actively working toward advancing in the field of education (additional coursework, degree, teacher certification, etc.)
Experience working with elementary-aged children

Physical Requirements: Job includes some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; hearing, speaking, observing, and significant fine finger dexterity. Specific abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Generally, the job requires 15% sitting, 40% walking, and 45% standing and the ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations, in a generally hazard-free environment, and in a clean atmosphere.
Hourly Rate: $24.50 - $25.60 per hour
