Job Description:
Serves as a student advisor, works collaboratively with faculty in respective academic departments, facilitates summer advising and registration, monitors students' academic progress and academic standing, assists students with meeting degree requirements, manages caseloads, and provides additional assistance to students.
JOB DUTIES

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Participates in mandatory professional development facilitated by the Advising Director, events, activities and programs which contribute to student retention and graduation. Attends and participates in academic advising professional development opportunities.
Works collaboratively with faculty in respective academic departments in order to provide students with the most up-to-date major-specific options for curricular exploration and with other campus organizations to facilitate student success.
Facilitates summer advising and registration through individual student meetings and group advising sessions and curriculum presentations for prospective, new, and current students.
Monitors students' academic progress and academic standing. Monitors students' re-enrollment at the end of each registration period and semester and actively take part in student retention through early alerts and midterm checkpoints with at-risk students by providing them with additional guidance and resources (e.g. grade point average review, strategic course scheduling and modifications, and appropriate campus referrals).
Assists students with meeting graduation requirements with degree checklists, semester-by-semester plans, degree auditing, course scheduling and registration exploring course substitutions, study abroad, and/or transfer options (when applicable).
Assists students with gaining Pathways Curriculum proficiency and in navigating Trinity's automated systems.
Proficiently advises students using theories, practices, and methodologies to facilitate student's successful navigation of their individual academic and professional paths and endeavors. Which requires the explorations of intentional degree and major/minors inspiring and prompting students to see the connection between their academic interests and their professional endeavors.
Manage student advising caseload with great intention, outreach, and presence so as to foster a positive rapport and relationship with students through email, online advising, individual in-person advising appointments, walk-ins, and group advising while maintaining accurate records of student contacts and advising. Reviews of student records and test scores for appropriate course recommendations and advising.
Provides consistent, accurate, timely, and student-centered transactional and holistic academic advising for all First-Year and Sophomore students through to declaration of a major.
Provides consistent interpretation to foster understanding and interpretation of the University's General, Pathways' and Major/Minor curricula requirements.
Facilitates preliminary conversations on internships and experiential learning, with referrals to the appropriate campus resources.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
Preferred:
Master's degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
1 year to 3 years.
Experience working in higher education.
Experience working with students in an academic setting.
Two years of direct academic advising experience, or extensive experience in counseling, group work assessment, and administration of other academic programs (e.g. admissions, registrar, career services, orientation programs, etc).
Preferred:
3 years to 5 years.
