The Department of Medicine is seeking to hire a Student Assistant to support research efforts with basic statistical analysis under the direction of a biostatistician and research supervisor. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical aptitude and a strong willingness to learn statistical software tools such as SAS, R, or Python. They Student should seek to develop foundational skills in data management, statistical analysis, and related best practices. A high level of attention to detail is essential, along with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines effectively. Prior experience supporting a scientific or technical research study is preferred.
Hourly: $17.60-$29.00
Qualifications
Required:
Willingness to learn statistics
Willingness to learn study design
Willingness to learn statistical software application, notably R, Python
Ability to use standard software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Ability to communicate relevant information to the overseeing statistician and PI
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other staff members and faculty
Preferred:
Enrollment in bachelor’s program in statistics, biostatistics, mathematics or a related field
