Founded in 1958, Sequoyah School is an independent progressive K-12 day school in Pasadena, California, built on the belief that diversity of all kinds is fundamental to a powerful education. Position Overview
We are currently accepting applications for the 2026-2027 school year.
Roles and Responsibilities
The full-time faculty position responsibilities include:
Teach a combination of 3 sections of life science/biology courses (Examples: Biology, SAS Biology: Macro Systems, and an advanced “SAS” Ecology or other environmental science-focused class for 11th/12th grades)
Teach one section of Statistics (or other math course)
Teach one section of an elective for one semester (Examples: Science of Flavor, Microbes and Infection)
Act as a chaperone and driver for a camping trip once per year (with optional second trip)
Mentor a student club or Stewardship committee
Attend Morning Meetings daily
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and must have experience teaching biology, ecology, or a related field.
A bachelor’s degree is required, a master’s or PhD preferred.

Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of high school students
