Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Operating Room Director/Manager of Sterile Processing or designee, the OR Instrument Technician/Sterile Processing cares for the instruments and supplies by cleaning, organizing and wrapping them in an approved manner conducive to sterilization and disinfection techniques.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

1. Knowledge of sterilization techniques, instruments and processing.

2. Completion of formal training program related to instrument processing.

Preferred:

• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous work in Central Processing
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms

Physical Requirements: 1. Position involves standing and walking for long periods of time, approximately 75% of the workday. 2. Must have the dexterity, coordination, and visual and auditory acuity to perform all job responsibilities. 3. Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. 4. Must be free from signs of illness and infection. 5. Must be able to stoop, push carts, bend, and lift in stocking supplies
