Description:
The Department of Health Systems and Population Sciences at the newly established Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston is inviting applications for the position of part-time, non-tenure track, Adjunct Faculty - Physicians, Patients, and Populations (PPP) Small Group Facilitator.
Duties and Essential Job Functions: • Attend virtual preparation sessions led by session instructors o If unable to attend preparation session, watch recording • Prepare for small group facilitation with 7-8 students • Attend the session and execute lesson plan developed by instructor • Allow students opportunities to demonstrate what they are learning and ensures all group members have a chance to contribute to the discussion and group learning • Provide adequate direction without dominating the group • Facilitate safe, effective discussions • Encourage the group to critically evaluate ideas and to articulate their reasoning processes • Strive for stimulating, enjoyable, and educationally useful experiences • Begin and end sessions on time • Create availability for student meetings • Provide individual feedback • Attend simulation sessions and/or view video encounters • Evaluate students’ simulation performances • Evaluate students’ documentations • Grade PETA and OSCE documentation

Qualifications Required Education and Experience: • MD or DO degree (or equivalent) • Evidence of effective teaching of learners in clinical and classroom settings
Preferred Education and Experience: • Experience teaching students in small-group settings • Experience developing medical school clinical courses • Experience managing professionals in a complex organization • Experience in management of multiple initiatives and multiple sites • Experience with LCME and/or other accreditation processes • Experience working with students from a variety of backgrounds
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Track record of teaching excellence, educational leadership, and organizational talent • Experience in working with and developing faculty • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and within teams
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training: • Current medical licensure is preferred but not required
