Public Health Data Science, Modeling, and Decision Analysis - Junior Specialist Institute for Health Policy Studies UC San Francisco
Applications are welcomed for a NIH-funded Junior Specialist position for a 1-year term. The Junior Specialist will work under the direction of Dr. Reza Yaesoubi at the Philip R. Lee Institute for Health Policy Studies. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead projects broadly related to public health data science, modeling, and decision analysis. This includes, but is not limited to, developing machine learning models to predict the risk of certain health outcomes, developing reinforcement learning models to optimize public health responses to pandemics, and developing cost-effectiveness models to optimize the selection of antibiotics for the treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis.
One of the main purposes of this position is to provide hands on research experience for individuals who are considering pursuing PhD studies. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate as lead author in publications arising from this work and to communicate findings in oral presentations at national and international conferences.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in data science, statistics, biostatistics, operation research, infectious disease modeling, computational biology, computational ecology, computer science, or related quantitative disciplines.
Strong background in statistics and probability models.
Strong programming skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
MSc or MPH degree in data science, statistics, biostatistics, operation research, infectious disease modeling, computational biology, computational ecology, computer science, or related quantitative disciplines.
See Table 24B for the salary range for this position. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000 - $58,600.
