Job Summary:
The Simulation Technician is responsible for availability and maintenance of resources used in the Health Professions Learning Center (HPLC) for learning experiences. This includes, but is not limited to: preparation and breakdown of simulation and practice experiences; ordering, organization and distribution of supplies and equipment from storage areas; and participation in simulation scenarios.
Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Ensures availability of supplies and equipment by stocking, restocking, and maintaining orderliness of supply rooms and HPLC areas. Transports needed supplies to appropriate areas.
2. Assembles supplies and equipment needed for learning experiences, such as set up and moulage of simulated patients, preparing supply and equipment carts for learning activities, preparing medications by making labels based on simulated patients' medication records and stocking in dispensing system.
3. Maintains a service-oriented, clean and well-organized learning environment. Cleans manikins, task trainers, and other equipment and fixtures. Changes linens at intervals and prepares for laundry vendor. Schedules laundry and bio-hazardous waste pick up.
4. Maintains safe working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
5. Monitors and maintains assets by inventorying supplies and equipment, including moulage supplies and accessories, to ensure availability to support learning activities. Keeps spreadsheets and inventory software up to date. Assists with purchasing and inventory management.
6. Follows manufacturer’s recommendation for simulator and equipment cleaning. Identifies and reports problems with either building, equipment, or supplies to Director.
7. Participates in simulation activities based on assigned role for simulation scenario.
8. Coordinates process of check out and return of HPLC equipment as requested by faculty and others.
9. Performs data entry into patient care technology, such as student names, simulated patients, and simulated medications.
10. Assists with tours and events in HPLC areas.
11. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
• High School diploma or GED.
• 1 year of related experience, such as patient care, lab assistance, inventory management.
Preferred Education & Experience:
• Associate or Bachelor degree
• Performance (acting) and/or experience in simulated/standardized patient (SP) role.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• None
Preferred Licensure, Certification, and/or Specialized Training:
• Certified Nurse Aid or Emergency Medical Technician; Moulage Training
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of basic computer operations.

• Skill in basic keyboarding techniques.
