Job Description:
Manages the International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and the Global Partnerships offices. Ensures goals and plans are consistent with the Center and University's missions. Responsible for all aspects of the ISSS and Global Partnerships offices, including but not limited to strategic planning, oversight of daily operations and office budget management. Serves as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO). Serves as the primary contact for the Department of Homeland Security, institutional faculty and staff, and external parties.
JOB DUTIES
Directs, coordinates and evaluates employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws. Interviews, hires and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; creates work schedules and conducts performance appraisals, counsels and disciplines employees; and addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Oversees program assessments and evaluations, manages budgets and acts as the primary representative in institutional committees/teams and external engagements.
ISSS:
Provides a lead role in coordinating programming opportunities for international students, serves as an instructor for the International Student Orientation course, assists ISSS Advisor with international student immigration advising, coordinates emergency services for international students and acts as the lead H1B and J1 immigration advisor.
Monitors developments in immigration policies, procedures and regulations on a daily basis as they relate to SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System)/SEVP, liaises with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and prepares for SEVIS re-certification, assists with SEVIS registration and oversees the maintenance of data in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's SEVIS and the international student database.
Global Partnerships:
Leads the review of international agreements. Responsible for the execution of international Memorandums of Understanding, international engagement letters of support and international agreements including exchange program agreements. Monitors the progress of international agreements.
Provides a lead role relating to incoming exchange partner representatives and students. Follows up with transcript and enrollment verification requests. Advises the CIE Director and maintains exchange student balances.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
Travel to meet with domestic and international partners.
Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
Performs other duties as required.
EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Preferred:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, International Studies, International Business, Counseling or related field.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
Three years of related work experience.
Experience as a Designated SEVIS Officer (DSO).
Background in international education.
Experience living/working/volunteering abroad.
Experience with web-based applications, software and database systems such as SEVIS and Google Docs
Familiarity with
Familiarity with Terra Dotta, Via TRM, CMS platform used by ISSS.
Demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Preferred:
Experience managing international agreements and Memorandums of Understanding.
Experience as a Principle Designated SEVIS Officer (PDSO).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:
