The Cancer Genomics Director Per Diem works closely with Directors and Manager to provide high-quality clinical services. He/she will perform clinical case review and sign-out in a consistent manner and ensure samples are worked up appropriately by institutional and laboratory standards.

This role will have the opportunity to work partially at our campus and remotely.

This is a per diem position.

Responsibilities

• Review, approve, interpret, and report all laboratory results promptly, accurately and proficiently. Provide consultations to clinicians and collaborate with Directors to ensure consistent practices.
• Be available as scheduled to provide onsite or remote consultation to laboratory staff and clinicians.
• Assist the Directors and Manager in following:
  • Ensure case workups are done appropriately to the institutional standards (Pathways) and laboratory standards.
  • Ensure lab adheres to all applicable laboratory regulations and guidelines (ASHG, CAP, HIPAA, TJC)
  • Ensure that the laboratory maintains an ongoing quality assurance/improvement program. Work with the laboratory director and manager to monitor quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Determine the appropriate tests to be performed, techniques to be followed, and equipment and reagents to be used. Ensure that testing systems used provide quality services, including preanalytic, analytic and postanalytic phases
  • Ensure the lab staff has appropriate education, experience, and training to perform testing accurately, promptly and proficiently
  • Ensure that the laboratory environment is safe and appropriate for the testing performed.
  • Provide technical expertise for the Cancer Genomics lab as necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

• M.D., D.O., or Ph.D. Degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, or clinical laboratory science from an accredited institution
• At least four total years of training or experience in genetics. including at least 3 years' experience with independent case sign-out in a Cytogenetics lab.
• Certification by ABMGG (Clinical Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics; or LGG) and active MOC
• Expertise/experience/knowledge in/of cytogenetics, molecular genetics, molecular pathology, and cancer genomics
• Mature judgment
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
• Ability to prioritize and work in a rapidly changing environment
• Proven experience working effectively with clinicians, administrators and researchers in a multi-disciplinary environment and across organizational lines to achieve excellent outcomes.
• Ability to analyze and sign-out chromosome genomic array results

Preferred:

• Prior experience as a director or associate director of a clinical cytogenetics laboratory

The hourly pay range for this position is from $89.27 to $148.76, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.

This is a per diem position.
