One regular, full-time position, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year in the Student Equity Department. The normal work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break daily. Flexibility is required to accommodate special events or changes in operational hours. Occasional weekend work may be necessary for special events. The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.
The first-level interviews with the screening and interview committee will be conducted via Zoom. The second-level interviews may be in person or via Zoom.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all classified staff, administrators, and temporary/hourly short-term employees to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two hundred (200) road miles from the employees regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high-quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.
The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.
Salary Range: 26 Compensation:
Starting at $81,605 per year (range 26, step 1) with annual salary step increases up to step 5. In addition, after five years of district service, employees earn a longevity stipend that increases over time.
Employees must make arrangements for the direct deposit of paychecks into the financial institution of their choice, via electronic fund transfer.

Basic Function:
Under general supervision, lead and participate in the work of planning and implementing the delivery of programs and services in a specialized area of Student Services; act as a liaison between the program and other departments, community partners, governmental agencies or other educational institutions; coordinate student resources and services across multiple service areas for an individual student or a targeted student population; coordinate and participate in events; perform advanced administrative support including monitoring program compliance with federal, state and district codes, rules and regulations and preparing and analyzing statistical data; and perform related duties as assigned.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
A Student Services Coordinator is differentiated from a Program Supervisor in that an incumbent in the latter class is a full supervisor of full and part-time staff in an assigned department. The Coordinator has limited program budget authority.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

2. Provide leadership and direction to staff: Select, train, schedule and supervise lower-level staff, ensuring adherence to regulations. 3. Manage student services operations: Assist students with program requirements, appointments, and access to support services. Update and maintain department or program website and social media accounts.
4. Support program development and implementation: Assist in planning and executing student service-related programs and projects. Coordinate with other departments to acquire resources and facilities for program delivery.
5. Disseminate program information: Communicate program updates and changes to staff, faculty, students, and the public. Create promotional materials and organize events to engage targeted groups.
6. Represent the college and program: Attend college events, job fairs, and community outreach activities. Develop workshops, presentations, and partnerships with community organizations.
7. Coordinate special events and projects: Plan and manage logistics for events, service projects, and outreach activities. Liaise with participants, vendors, and campus departments to ensure event success.
8. Facilitate student assessment and placement: Facilitate the assessment testing and review student records for placement purposes. Provide students with transfer information and assistance in application preparation.
9. Program Administration and Coordination: Oversee student clubs and program logistics. Manage budgets and purchase orders; coordinate travel and chaperone trips. Develop and maintain statistical tracking systems for program. Provide administrative support. Serve as the functional specialist for program-specific electronic databases and programs; facilitate student, faculty and staff use of systems and programs.

Plan and implement programs and services of the Academic Success & Equity (ASE) Programs, including Puente, Umoja, Resources & Assistance for Former Foster Youth (RAFFY), Mana, Undocumented People Rise in Solidarity and Empowerment (UPRISE), Students Pride In Honoring Our Existence Through Resistance and Empowerment (SPHERE), Transitions Scholars, African American Male Education Network and Development (A2MEND) and any subsequent programs.
12. Assist with the development and operations of Centers focused on creating a culturally sensitive and welcoming environment for disproportionately-impacted student populations
13. Apply an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes for underrepresented groups.
14. Utilize a future thinking approach to assess program readiness for change by identifying relevant signals and drivers of change.

To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelors degree in a relevant field, and one year of closely related work experience in assigned student services area; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
NOTE: For work experience, one 'year' is defined as equivalent to 40 hours per week for 12 months, or at least 2,080 hours.
Desirable Qualifications:
1. Ability to create an environment of understanding and acceptance; and challenge organizational policies and practices that may be exclusionary.
2. Experience and skill with addressing issues of equity; recent experience working with African American/Black, Latinx, Native American, Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander, former foster youth, LGBTQIA+, justice impacted or formally incarcerated, and other racially minoritized students and an understanding of how historical patterns of exclusions of these groups in higher education shape patterns of participation and outcomes.
3. Willingness to examine and remediate ones relational practices to more effectively engage and support racially minoritized students, and a commitment to participatory governance, consensus building, and team approaches.
