Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse and or the Manager of Same Day Surgery (SDS), the SDS Nurse is responsible for organizing the clinical care of the pre-operative/ pre-procedural patient in a competent, compassionate, and effective manner. The SDS RN can provide high-quality individualized patient care in an efficient manner, that utilizes excellent time management skills. The SDS RN will demonstrate proficient skills in the performance of his/her duties to meet departmental expectations and the needs of the patients, the patient's family, the physician, staff, and other departments. The SDS RN continuously seeks out opportunities to improve his/her skills and or improve processes associated with the care of the SDS patient. The SDS RN recognizes the patient is at the center of the care being provided and as such seeks out ways to provide high customer satisfaction in every encounter.

Required Qualifications:
Current California RN License
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS
One year of experience in a pre-op, short stay or same day surgery unit
Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift, position, and turn patients
Must have the dexterity, coordination, and visual and auditory acuity to perform all nursing duties
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Preferred Qualifications:
BSN
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
