In this role, you will be pivotal in modernizing and integrating essential data systems and applications, significantly enhancing our surveillance and reporting functions. As a key advocate for system-neutral governance, you will be instrumental in ensuring that our data practices are not only reliable but also adhere to the highest standards of operation and maintenance. Your work will be crucial in supporting epidemiological research, aiding in the management and containment of notifiable diseases and other health hazards.

As a member of the Data Systems & Application Development team, you will serve as a technical expert in designing, developing, and implementing scalable and flexible data collection, management, and analysis systems. These systems form a crucial part of the statewide public health infrastructure, enabling us to detect and respond to new and emerging public health threats effectively. Your role involves ensuring data integrity and alignment with agency policy and security protocols, thereby bolstering public health decisions and responses. Through collaboration with various internal and external IT partners, you will play a key role in shaping the technical environments that support our public health initiatives. Your contributions will enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of health services and promote equitable health outcomes across the state.

Required Qualifications: Your experience may have been gained concurrently though a combination of education, professional experience and paid or unpaid experience.

OR A degree in Public Policy, Health Policy, Informatics, Statistics, Information Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, Epidemiology, or related field AND professional experience in a healthcare or public health setting with health informatics responsibilities conducting and/or supporting informatics projects including scientific investigations, information architecture management, and implementing data and information standards as follows: 

• OPTION 2: Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years of experience
• OPTION 3: Master’s degree AND one (1) year of experience.

AND to be considered for this position you must also have the following experience in addition to the above options:

• Two (2) or more years of experience performing data modeling and/or designing disease surveillance or public health informatics/surveillance systems.
• At least one (1) year of experience in:
  1. Achieving effective data acquisition and management to support public health practice.
  2. Cloud computing environments and development tools.
