The District is recruiting for an Air Quality Instrument Technician to fill the current vacancy located in the Fresno office. The Position:

Air Quality Instrument Technicians install, operate and maintain air monitoring instruments, such as analyzers, samplers, recording instruments, and calibrators; assess the data recorded by their instruments to ensure completeness, validity, and compliance with regulatory guidelines; and coordinate the maintenance of their monitoring stations.

After two years of service, incumbents are eligible to promote to Air Quality Instrument Technician II.  At the II level, incumbents are fully competent to perform the full range of duties related to calibrations and maintenance. 

Qualifications:

This position requires education equivalent to an A.S. degree with major coursework in electronics, chemistry, physics or mathematics AND one (1) year of experience installing, operating, maintaining, and repairing electronic instruments and equipment. Experience with maintenance and calibration of air quality analytical equipment and instruments is preferred.

Qualified applicants must possess knowledge of:  principles and techniques of electronics; the installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance of a variety of analytical instruments and equipment; record keeping principles; basic principles of physics and chemistry; AND skill in: applying applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; working independently with minimal supervision; gathering, evaluating, tabulating, and recording data; observing safe work methods and practices; understanding and following oral and written directions; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.

Other Requirements: 

Qualified applicants must: possess a valid California Driver License and meet the automobile insurability requirements of the District; and must meet the District's medical standards for this classification.
