This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by managing all functions and meeting all objectives of the Data Quality and Analysis Unit (DQAU) in the capacity as Chief.

The Research Data Supervisor I (RD Sup I) develops goals; plans, organizes, and prioritizes work assignments; and monitors the quality of work performed by staff. Develops data quality analysis plans and provides leadership on vital statistics data quality issues. Acts as a liaison for the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) to ensure accuracy of vital records data is available for national reporting purposes. Acts as the program manager for the Vital Statistics Cooperative Agreement data quality activities with the NCHS. Performs as the project manager for the annual creation of the static data source files which are utilized by other CDPH programs, other state departments, local health jurisdictions, researchers, and the public.

The incumbent works under the general directions of the RD Sup II, Chief of the Health Information and Research Section.
