Responsibilities
As a GI endoscopy technician, you will be assisting medical staff pre-intra-and-post procedure with various duties including collecting, and preserving specimens and proper disposition of any specimens, and positioning patients. You will be responsible for ensuring that all procedural equipment and supplies are present, clean, and in working order, and high level disinfection of endoscopes and instruments.

Your oversight will be needed to identify when equipment needs repair, prepare equipment to be sent to central processing, maintain electronic equipment, and coordinate repair of the equipment with the proper department or company. Other duties include maintaining accurate logbooks on cidex OPA, Medivator equipment, Scope Buddy Plus, Veriscan LT, and ordering/restocking rooms (outpatient setting) or scanning stock used to maintain Space Trax System (main GI lab only).

Required Qualifications

• Prior professional experience in GI-related medical position(s).
  
• Prior professional experience interacting directly with medical patients.
  
• Knowledge of SGNA and AGA guidelines, and principles of asepsis.
  
• Ability to work with any necessary disinfecting agent.
  
• Ability to recognize medical supplies, their use, and daily/monthly usage to correlate with recording cycles as required on the unit as well as understand related reference materials.
  
• Written and oral communication skills to concisely provide information, explanations, and instructions to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who are ill or distressed, or who may not speak English.
  
• Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive, customer-service oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging customers who may be ill, angry, or emotionally distressed.
  
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  
• Complete working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles and techniques related to area of GI Endoscopy.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• SGNA certification.
  

Special Requirements

• Must be physically able to push gurneys and assist in positioning patients, requiring appropriate manual dexterity.
  
• This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
