Responsible for coaching and recruiting athletes for the University’s Intercollegiate Division III Swimming and Diving program. Teaches activity classes and a second assignment within the Athletic Department is required.

JOB DUTIES

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Coaches the Intercollegiate Division III Diving program. On the deck coaching the divers on the one meter and three meter boards, as well as utilizing the diving equipment, trampoline, dryland diving board and the exercise mats

Recruits divers and athletes to the Trinity Diving program.

Works on the phone recruiting, talking to other coaches, scheduling training camps and meets, writing workout progressions and skills, attending developmental diving clinics, and conducting developmental diving clinics.

Makes appropriate arrangements for travel to out of town contests.

Teaches activity courses in the Department of Physical Education.

Second assignment within Athletics, as assigned by the Athletic Director

Participates in individual goal setting for each Trinity diver, preseason, current season and postseason.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES Abides by NCAA Division III swimming rules and regulations.

Remains “on-call” for student-athletes needs 24/7, nights and weekends. Requires extensive travel and time during the regular season and during the recruiting season.

Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.

Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.

Performs other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Required: Demonstrate effectiveness in the recruitment of student athletes and the instructional aspects of coaching. Technical and mechanical knowledge of diving progressions, drills and skills on the one and three meter, as well as the trampoline, the dryland diving board, and the exercise mats.

Preferred: Knowledge of the skills of the national divers and be able to communicate these skills to the Trinity divers. Ability to spot talent and be able to develop that talent over the four years into a highly competitive NCAA qualifier. Coaching, recruiting, and budget management. Knowledge of effective use of the safety harnesses over the one meter, three meter, trampoline and the dryland diving board. Ability to set each diverse individual, realistic goals for their talent and a structured workout program to achieve those goals.

EDUCATION 

Required:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.

Preferred:

Master's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university.

EXPERIENCE 

Required:

Over 5 years.

Coaching experience, preferably at Division III level.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS 

Required:

CPR and First aid certification
American Red Cross Lifeguard certification 

Preferred:

Membership in the Professional Diving Coaches Association

Membership in the Texas Interscholastic Coaches Association (TISCA)

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

All jobs require a current Criminal Background Check (CBC).

Requires the hours of work necessary to fulfill responsibilities which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
