DESCRIPTION

The Hospitality Information (HI) Supervisor leads a team of staff and student employees who provide operational support, including opening and closing of facilities, check-in and check-out procedures, processing and distribution of mail and package services, key management, manage meeting room spaces and respond to general inquiries in the North Torrey Pines Living Learning Neighborhood (NTPLLN). Manages budget, staffing, resources, and administrative operations.

The incumbent ensures excellent customer service, efficient processes and procedures, and adequate staffing. Recommends and develops the strategic direction for the organization and participates in cross-functional initiatives. Responsible for analyzing financial, operations, and customer data to drive organizational changes. Fosters relationships with department and campus colleagues.

Receives predetermined work assignments subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Works on issues of limited scope. Requires full knowledge of own area of functional responsibility.

Housing Dining Hospitality (HDH) is a self-funded, large and complex campus department consisting of 7 divisions, with over 700 career employees, 1000 to 1200 student employees, and an annual operating budget greater than $256 million. HDH provides housing for approximately 18,000 undergraduates, grad students, faculty, staff, and their families in over 400 buildings covering over 8 million sq. ft. HDH is implementing an aggressive building plan which added 10,000 new beds in the next 10 years and will almost double our square footage by 2032.

HDH houses 38% of UCSD's enrolled students with a goal of housing 65% by 2032. HDH provides maintenance and repair, contract meals/meal plan management, retail food service, conference services, and catering services to residents, students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Working knowledge of the organization's processes and procedures, rules and regulations.

• Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.

• Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling to effectively motivate others.

• Skills to evaluate issues and identify resolutions.

• Strong service orientation with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

• Leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to professional and support staff. Experience in motivational and moral building techniques with the ability to create and maintain team spirit and harmony.

• Demonstrated skills in employee supervision, personnel management, performance management, organizational administration, and strategic planning.

• Strong customer service experience. Demonstrated ability to create service-level standards focused on response times and issue resolution.

• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Demonstrated experience in utilizing good judgment and discretion when working with a variety of sensitive issues or highly confidential information.
