Second, the candidate will assist in management of the laboratory under the supervision the PI. Initially, the candidate will assist in establishing laboratory protocols and best practices, moving into the newly built laboratory space, and organizing the laboratory for future growth. Eventually, the candidate will independently undertake and train trainees on technical laboratory procedures (such as protein expression and purification). Attention to detail and communication skills are critical, as a successful candidate will have organizational laboratory duties, including purchasing of laboratory supplies, developing standard procedures, coordinating sample exchanges with collaborators, and maintaining a safe lab environment in accordance with environmental health and biosafety regulations.
