Magic Valley Electric Cooperative's Board of Directors has partnered with NRECA Executive Search is seeking a principled executive leader with high integrity to lead the cooperative after the upcoming retirement of its long serving General Manager.
Magic Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC) is a member-owned, non-profit distribution cooperative that has over 5,300 miles of energized lines that serve over 111,000 members. MVEC has a workforce of 294 approved full-time employees, with a Net Utility Plant of $339 million and Net Revenue of $230 million. The Cooperative operates out of its Headquarters office, along with three district offices and an Operations Center that is nearing the start of construction.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and expertise:
A 4 year degree is required with a preference to candidates with an advanced degree or completion of NRECA's Management Internship Program (MIP).
At least 6-10 years of management experience, ideally in a distribution utility environment
Previous CEO experience is preferred.
Understanding of and experience in Electrical Engineering, Accounting & Finance, Marketing or Member Services and Business Administration will definitely set you apart from other applicants.
A strong background in working in an electric distribution cooperative environment, with a focus on safety.
The General Manager also serves on the boards of both San Miguel Electric Cooperative and South Texas Electric Cooperative. As such, a strong understanding of power supply is particularly helpful.
MVEC is headquartered in Mercedes, Texas, located in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) of South Texas, and is a dynamic and growing area. While historically comprised of rural and agricultural communities, today the RGV is experiencing strong urban development. Located 21 miles east of McAllen, TX (pop. 130,000) and 14 miles west of Harlingen (pop. 66,000), Mercedes sits in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley.
