Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs a wide-variety of patient care activities in support of clinic activity requiring specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or TJC regulations.
Under the Supervising Physician and Clinic Manager, the Orthopedic Technologist will independently provide casting services as ordered by the physicians or extenders to include: assisted fracture reductions, applying casts and splints, taping, dressing changes, suture and staple removal, wound care, wound assessment, wound debridement, wound vac application and removal, pre-fabricated brace fitting, crutch & cane training, supportive hardware adjustments and removal (pins & ex-fix devices), and provide education and training on cast/splint care, pre-fabricated brace application, and dressing changes per physician orders. Further duties will include traction frame set up and maintenance, assist the providers with minor procedures. Document any pertinent information into patient EMR to include any procedures performed on patients, time-outs, education provided, and charge appropriate charge entry.
Ortho Tech will assist all aspects of front office management, appointment scheduling, patient check-in, authorizations, accurate billing, payment processing, supply and forms management. Back office duties require equipment management, environmental care functions, cleaning/disinfecting the environment and performs other related duties as required when. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment.
Graduate of a NAOT certified program (National Association of Orthopedic Technologists).
BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
Demonstrated experience as an Orthopedic Technologist.
Three (3+) years experience plus
Certified or certificate of completion from a NAOT accredited Orthopedic Technologist program.
Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
