Natividad is seeking a Supervising Therapist in the Therapy Services Department to provide day-to-day supervision of a combination program of inpatient physical, occupational and speech-language therapy services.
Significant Responsibilities of the Position:
Supervises physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech-language pathologists in the Therapy Services Division at Natividad
Orients new employees to the Division’s programs; gives technical guidance to staff therapists
Provides liaison between the Division and other community agencies; arranges training programs for therapy students or new therapists assigned to the Division
Coordinates and supervises all Division operations; interprets the therapy program and policies to staff, patients and visitors
Evaluates therapists’ performance and initiates appropriate disciplinary action if required; interviews and selects therapists to fill staff vacancies
Assists in the development and construction of special equipment and instructs patients on home equipment, exercises and activities
Participates in and coordinates the scheduling of conferences for Division staff
Maintains various records including attendance records for staff; assigns duties to staff; guides therapy personnel in administrative areas
Supervises the instruction program for occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech-language pathologists
Performs evaluations and treatment of patients utilizing department approved documentation guidelines; implements goals
Evaluates and treats patients per scope of practice to help with caseload and assisting staff with coverage
Required License: Pursuant to Section 2630 of the Business and Professions Code, possession of a valid Physical Therapist License issued by the State Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the Physical Therapy Board of California OR Pursuant to Section 2570.6 of the Business and Professions Code, possession of a valid Occupational Therapist License issued by the California Board of Occupational Therapy OR Pursuant to Section 2532 of the Business and Professions Code, possession of a valid Speech-Language Pathologist License issued by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aide Dispensers Board.
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible/lead experience as a licensed Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or a Speech-Language Pathologist in a Therapy Services Division.
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of therapeutic techniques, activities and equipment used in occupational or physical therapy work; kinesiology, neurology and the objectives of occupational or physical therapy treatment; current principles, methods, theory and practices of speech therapy; pathologies and injuries that result in physical, speech, language, cognitive and swallowing disabilities.
