The Finance Manager provides highly specialized finance/accounting-related services to The Nature Conservancy in Texas.
The Finance Manager provides highly specialized services in one or more of the following functions: financial analysis and reporting; financial management; accounting; auditing; grants administration, management controls and reporting; or similar financial activities for the Texas chapter. They have a high level of expertise in their area(s) of specialization. The position administers and maintains finance/accounting activities in accordance with TNC policies and procedures and best practices in financial/organizational management. The Finance Manager provides assistance to all levels of personnel in their specialty area. They respond to complex employee/management questions and problems based on advanced knowledge of the subject area. They are responsible for certain closing or adjusting journal entries and ad-hoc account analysis and reconciliation.
The Finance Manager is also responsible for the administration of the Texas chapter’s contracts and agreements. They work closely with project managers to prepare agreements between The Nature Conservancy’s Texas chapter and its partners, grantees, consultants, and vendors. They work closely with legal, operations, and grants staff to ensure that the terms and conditions of agreements are properly documented, and they oversee the review and approval process. The Finance Manager oversees compliance with TNC SOPs and tracking mechanism, including the contracts database, and procedural documentation. They provide training to new project managers.
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field and 4 years' related experience or equivalent combination.
Experience with BBCRM or other relational databases.
Technical experience with grants award accounting issues.
Experience, coursework or other training with applicable U.S. Federal government circulars (OMB Circulars A-110, A-122 and A-133), state and local regulations, and standard contract clauses.
Experience using accounting and financial reporting systems.
Experience in manipulating, analyzing and interpreting data. Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of current trends in specific field.
May require fluency in a foreign language to support global operations.
MBA, CPA and/or CIA may be preferred.
