Transportation & Mobility Planning is responsible for implementation of the Denver Moves plans and the Mayor’s Mobility Action Plan, which sets the vision for Denver’s transportation future of “moving people.” It works with neighborhoods, citizens, organizations, and elected officials to safely and efficiently move pedestrians, transit, bicycles, and cars throughout the city and provide choice in mobility options.

The Transportation & Mobility Planning team is seeking a Senior City Planner with experience and knowledge in multi-modal transportation planning, including bicycle, pedestrian, traffic safety, and complete streets-related projects. This Senior City Planner will support the implementation of Denver Moves by managing multimodal transportation plans and projects, conducting research and studies on active transportation, managing count data, and producing reports on multimodal transportation in Denver. This position will work with the Planning Team to oversee the development and implementation of its “Community Network” approach which focuses on identifying and programming complete multimodal transportation networks within neighborhoods across Denver.

As a Senior City Planner, duties would include:

• Participate in the implementation of Denver Moves Bicycles and Denver Moves: Pedestrians & Trails and ensure that other programs/projects and applicable regulations, are consistent with the Denver Moves principles and network
• Coordinate complex planning projects that support the implementation of Denver Moves and which often require coordination of consultants and with multiple DOTI divisions, City departments, external agencies and/or multi-jurisdictions
• Create project scopes of work and schedules which may include preparation of existing conditions assessment, environmental research and assessment, public involvement, data analysis, timelines, and budget
• Develop long- and short-term plans and policies involving bicycle and “complete streets” transportation planning initiatives and their potential impact on economic development, environmental stewardship, infrastructure development, and land use
• Serve as a technical expert to DOTI, other City departments and support planning committee meetings, neighborhood groups, City Council, and other stakeholders on bicycle and pedestrian-related issues
• Facilitate meetings and/or presentations to bring together interested stakeholders to discuss proposed transportation planning initiatives, assess obstacles, evaluate opposing views and interests, and determine areas of support
