Under general supervision, the IT Consultant provides first tier technical support to Physical Plant Management (PPM) for a wide variety of enterprise technology hardware and software services, with the goal of providing excellent service to PPM and the campus community. The incumbent participates in routine technology support tasks such as deploying, repairing, troubleshooting and decommissioning computing hardware and software
Works both independently and as part of a team to perform technology service, trains others, produces/reviews documentation, analyzes needs and recommends purchases, and assists with defining processes and procedures when necessary
Installs, monitors, and repairs, if necessary PPM internal network and other specialized applications
Coordinates directly with campus IT, other support units, and vendors as needed for service, escalations, and other tasks as necessary
Performs other duties as assigned

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in Technical Support/Customer Service environment and/or a related field. Certification training and applied experience may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis.
Equivalent to six months of full-time computing experience which includes knowledge of relevant hardware, software, maintenance, and user support.
Experience using a case management/ticketing system to track customer calls preferred.
Experience creating and maintain web pages preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
General working knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and training methods and a basic understanding of networks, data communication, and multimedia systems.
Ability and specialized skills to recognize technology problems and offer reasonable solutions; organize projects and work within timeframes and deadlines;
Ability and specialized skills to effectively and actively participate as a team member by meeting assigned deadlines, listening to ideas of others, and acting on expressed needs; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Working knowledge desktop software troubleshooting practices,
Working knowledge of Windows 10, MAC OS X, and Microsoft Office Suite, PC's and Mac's, tablets, printer hardware, and monitors.

The salary range for this classification is: $3470 - $6681 per month. The anticipated HIRING RANGE: 3470 - $5400, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday.
REG: This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
