DESCRIPTIONThe new Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science is dedicated to health and social equity and has over 80 primary salaried faculty, 25 secondary faculty, 200+ personnel, 175 postgraduate students, and 500 undergraduate majors. The School includes activities in the Public Health disciplines of Behavioral Medicine, Biostatistics & Bioinformatics, Epidemiology, Global Health, Health Policy, and Preventive Medicine. The School has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Research Centers of Excellence focused on Wireless and Population Health Systems, Health Promotion and Equity, Women's Health, Tobacco Control, Cardiovascular Epidemiology and Prevention, and Integrative Health and has extensive collaborations with the School of Medicine, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, Jacobs School of Engineering, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Moores Cancer Center, the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute, and with other partners across the UC San Diego campus. Partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School. The School houses five recharge cores providing services to UCSD and external customers. Research in the School includes ~$125M total awarded grants and contracts. The School has and administers two PhD programs (Public Health and Biostatistics), a Master of Public Health professional degree program, an MS in Biostatistics, the only Health Sciences undergraduate program (BSPH), an MAS in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations run in conjunction with Extension, and a Preventive Medicine residency program. The Research Data Analyst will be a part of the team coordinating and integrating the landmark Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study, which is following nearly 12,000 youth for at least 10 years. The study is funded by and conducted collaboratively with 10 Institutes and Centers of the National Institutes of Health, with additional support from the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Justice, the Centers for Disease Control, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Reporting to Principal Investigators (PIs), and in coordination with co-investigators and staff researchers, the incumbent will develop and manage a data curation plan for quality control of a high-dimensional dataset collected at 21 research institutions as part of the nationwide study. The incumbent will work closely with the leadership and domain experts in the consortium to develop and implement protocols, processes, and timelines for data collection, data review and correction, and preparation of the dataset for public data release. The incumbent will also work closely with investigators in the ABCD Coordinating Center (ABCD CC) and the Data Analysis and Informatics Resource Center (ABCD DAIRC) to proactively identify data issues, implement solutions, and respond to requests from the consortium to address data quality control and analysis concerns. The incumbent will use skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth statistical analyses and research software programming techniques; and will demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The position requires involvement in the scientific, administrative, and budgetary goals of the study Centers, and excellent skills communicating with interdisciplinary colleagues, reporting to stakeholder groups, and strictly adhering to timelines and milestones.
