Senior Business Analyst - Data Warehouse

SCCAs Data Warehouse Team is responsible for designing, developing and supporting the enterprise data platform for operational and analytical purposes. Under the guidance of the Data Warehouse Manager, the Senior Business Analyst will engage business and clinical leaders and subject domain experts to analyze functional requirements and data sources to support the development of our new enterprise data warehouse. Responsibilities include defining requirements, analyzing/profiling data, developing technical specifications, designing and modeling solutions in alignment with data warehousing best practices and creating prototypes that will be developed and integrated into the data warehouse.

The Senior Business Analyst is a subject matter and process leader who works with business partners, technical teams, and other stakeholders to design and deliver data and analytics capabilities to support SCCAs business and clinical mission. Finally, this individual performs a key role in promoting the adoption and utilization of SCCAs data assets to enhance the organizations reputation as a healthcare analytical leader.

• Works with business users and subject matter experts to analyze, define, and document data requirements to support SCCAs clinical, business, operational, and research activities
• Leads requirements gathering process with business partners to understand their data needs and translate those needs into technical specifications
• Facilitates meetings with technical and non-technical staff to clarify business requirements and document technical specifications for the data warehouse development team
• Conducts data profiling and other analyses to determine the efficacy of available data sources
• Communicates technical specifications to the data warehouse developers
• Guides data warehouse team members on investigation of bugs and data quality issues
• Participates in testing and QA processes to ensure business requirements are met
• Designs, organizes, and executes strategies that advance the data warehouse platform
• Establish standards for technical specifications and supporting project documentation
• Mentors other analysts in skills and methods in order to demonstrate and increase the business value delivered by the data warehouse team

Required

• BA/BS in healthcare informatics, other similar degree, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of demonstrated data warehousing & business intelligence experience
• 2+ years business analysis experience in a data warehouse environment or data consulting services role
• Minimum 3 years experience using T-SQL
• Expert at documenting functional and data requirements into executable technical specifications
• Exceptional at meeting facilitation to translate abstract concepts into tangible solutions
• Strong communication skills, especially between technical and non-technical audiences
• Build cross team collaboration to produce high-quality work products
• Manage business expectations and deliver customer-focused solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

• Masters degree or 5-8 years of experience in data development/business intelligence/analytics
• Familiarity with healthcare industry and terminology and/or experience working with healthcare data (e.g. scheduling, billing, clinical, research data)
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations
• Experience with Epic healthcare systems
• Familiarly with the Systems/Software Development Life Cycle
• Experience with Agile software development
