The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology - Hematopathology Division has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift, MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENTIST 2. The Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 (MLS 2) will assist in evaluating, selecting and applying standard scientific procedures and techniques to implement novel flow cytometric and molecular assays for the clinical diagnosis, prognostication, and monitoring of patients with hematopoietic neoplasms. The MLS2 will work with the MLS Lead, director, and associate director of the Developmental Hematopathology team to determine objectives and variables to investigate in order to complete validations and minor adaptation and modifications to procedures for clinical trials and/or patient studies. Under limited supervision, the Medical Laboratory Scientist 2 in the Hematopathology Developmental group will have the opportunity to assist in developing and performing novel flow cytometric and molecular assays for the clinical diagnosis and monitoring of patients with hematopoietic neoplasms. Tasks of this position are primarily focused on providing technical support of flow cytometry to the MLS Lead and MLS1. In addition, will assist directors in development of novel flow cytometry assays for the post-therapeutic monitoring and risk stratification of patients with acute leukemia. The assays are utilized in a clinical trial setting in collaboration with a number of national organizations. Duties and Responsibilities:
Minimum Requirements: Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory OR equivalent education/experience AND Current Medical Laboratory Scientist certification with the American Society for Clinical Pathology or equivalent certifying organization; or certification with specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory division AND Two years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist 1 or equivalent experience.
