Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: January 25, 2021 Departmental Overview The Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) is a West Coast hub for research on global development. Headquartered at the University of California, Berkeley, our large, interdisciplinary network-including a growing number of scholars from low and middle-income countries-identifies and tests innovations designed to reduce poverty and promote development. CEGA researchers use rigorous evaluations, tools from data science, and new measurement technologies to assess the impacts of large-scale social and economic development programs. Through careful matchmaking, competitive grant-making, and research dissemination activities, CEGA ensures that the scientific evidence we produce improves the lives of people living in poverty. CEGA is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion - please read our values statement here Position Details Reporting to a Senior Program Manager, the Program Associate will ensure effective administrative, research management, and dissemination systems to meet programmatic goals. The Program Associate will work closely with faculty leadership and will engage with other CEGA affiliates, partners, and sponsors interested in international development research. This may include fundraising support to help expand CEGA's research footprint. Responsibilities
Required Qualifications As a Program Associate, your primary tasks will involve communication, analysis, and specialization. Education: You hold a bachelor's degree with significant training in economics, including intermediate-level economics and econometrics and or equivalent years experience and/or training. Degrees in international development, public administration/policy, business or a related field may also be considered. Ideally you have a demonstrated academic interest in international development and public policy and/or international experience. Experience: You have 0-2 years of relevant work experience. Skills: You have a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of economic development and impact evaluation. You are comfortable working in or learning MS Office and Google Suite, WordPress, and Salesforce, and ideally have experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop. It's preferred that you have experience managing grants and/or contracts, and have demonstrated success writing research grant proposals. It's preferred (but not required) that you have field experience, particularly on rigorous impact evaluation research, household surveys. Communication: You have outstanding written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex scientific findings into accessible, non-technical language. Organization: You have exceptional organizational and project management skills, including a demonstrated spirit of innovation and proven attention to detail, an ability to multitask and responsiveness to deadlines. You are a strategic thinker, well-organized, and service-oriented. Cultural competencies: You are comfortable and adept at working in a diverse and multicultural work environment, with colleagues, partners and policymakers from around the world. You display cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age sensitivity and adaptability. Attitude: You love learning. You are passionate about international development policy and the rigorous research that informs it. You are agile, adaptable, self-motivated, hard-working, and collaborative. You have a sense of humor with a positive attitude in approaching challenges and uncertainty. Preferred Qualifications
Salary & Benefits This position is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position. Hourly pay for this role is commensurate with experience.
