You willdemonstrates advanced knowledge, skills and understands the unique aspects ofthe population served in the care of his/her patients.
The delivery ofcare is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learningneeds of the individual patient.
You will performonly those duties for which he/she has demonstrated competency.
Your role performsdelegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within thephilosophy and overall plan of care delivery within Airlife.
Utilizes thenursing process to independently deliver nursing care to critically ill and/orinjured patients aboard a variety of vehicles i.e. fixed wing aircraft, rotorwing aircraft and ground ambulances.
Transports arebetween medical facilities and their diagnosis maybe a medical/surgical,obstetrical or postpartum diagnosis.
You will assistwith marketing activities of AirLife or HealthONE/HCA when requested. They maybe requested to support research projects also.
What are the neededqualifications of an AirLife High RiskOB Flight Nurse?
Current ColoradoRegistered Nurse License required.
Current BCLS, ACLSand NRP required at time of hire.
Advancedcertification is acquired within 1 years of hire and maintained throughoutemployment.
Graduate of anaccredited School of Nursing, B.S.N. preferred. Licensed as a Registered Nursein the state of Colorado.
Must be certifiedin BLS, ACLS, NRP upon hire and maintain throughout employment.
STABLE and NCC(core certifications) are highly desirable.
Must have RN-CInpatient Obstetrical Nursing Certification offered through NCC within 1 yearsof hire.
Demonstrates goodorganizational skills.
Provides safe andappropriate patient care within the Standards of Nursing Practice at HealthONEand AirLife.
Displaysappropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively andprofessionally with all internal and external customers.
Five years acutecare / specialty nursing minimum.
Prefer Labor/Deliverytertiary care experience.
Able to articulateand demonstrate knowledge of nursing theory and practice. Able to articulateand demonstrate knowledge of critical care transport.
DEGREE OF SUPERVISION REQUIRED Able to work independently and autonomously under medicalpolicies/ procedures and Guidelines with minimal support or supervision.
ORIENTATION PERIOD Based on experience and continuous assessment of progress ofSpecial Team Manager/ Program Director, Chief Flight Nurse, Educators andMedical Director. Orientation ranges between 16-24 weeks. Orientation includesformal nursing department orientation of 2-4 days during first 2 weeks ofemployment.
PHYSICALDEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS Must be able to work in highly dynamic environment withexposure to noise, vibration and weather extremes. Must be able to wear NightVision Goggles (NVG’s) and helmets for extended periods of time in flight. Theweight of each helmet is approximately 3.64 pounds with the additional weightof the NVG’s of 1.84 pounds.
