University of California Irvine School of Medicine Academic Radiologist The UC Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Radiological Sciences is currently seeking a qualified candidate as a Section Chief of Cardiothoracic Imaging in the Professor of Clinical "X" Series and Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series, at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor rank. Expertise in all aspects of cardiovascular and thoracic imaging is essential. Experience in clinical operations and strong interest in mentorship, research and teaching is required. Criteria for the Professor of Clinical "X" Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is essential criteria for appointment in this series. Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service. Requirements – Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree. The applicant must be fellowship trained in Cardiothoracic Imaging and have a documented interest in research and teaching with excellent track record in scholarly activities. Candidates must be board-certified in diagnostic radiology and be licensed or be eligible for full licensure in the State of California. The candidate will be involved in interpreting chest radiographs, cardiothoracic CT and MR and whole body vascular CTA and MRA. The candidate will be expected to participate in multidisciplinary meetings with cardio-pulmonary medicine, infectious disease, and vascular and cardiothoracic surgery. She or he will also participate in week night and weekend calls, similar to other cardiothoracic section members. The department has state–of- the- art equipment including clinical 3T and 1.5T MRI scanners (including Siemens Vida and Trio Tim 3T scanners) and 256- and 128-slice CT scanners. In addition, there are 320-slice CT, 3T MRI and 9.4T small animal MRI research scanners. The cardiothoracic section at UCI does not provide cross-sectional interventional service. The University of California, Irvine Medical Center is a 411-bed tertiary and quaternary care hospital with all residencies. UCIMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center in urban Orange County.
