DAYS! 4 needs ASAP for DAYS Travelers 75 mile radius rule 3 East - Internal Med Unit 3 East is a 32-bed unit that cares for a diverse population of medical and surgical patients. We care for patients with conditions including: COPD, DKA, Flu, Covid, GI bleed. Patients post-surgery including: appendectomy, cholectomy, wound wash-outs. We are the sister unit to cardiac - taking overflow of CHF & pacer patients. The typical RN to patient ratio is 1:4-5 (days) and 1:5-6 (nights). Patient Care Techs and Advanced Care Partners work with our nurses to assist in patient care. Our unit is welcoming, fast-paced, and a place where we value teamwork. Our nurses are skilled in patient assessments, time management, and patient/family communication. Job Duties
* Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
* Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
* Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
* Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.
Skills and Abilities:
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, and take appropriate action. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
