Responsibilities The Histotechnologist I Per Diem supports the UC Davis Dermatopathology Service by providing support for the technical areas within the Dermatopathology Laboratories.
Must meet CLIA (493-1489)/CAP testing personnel qualifications/regulations for High Complexity grossing requirements.
AA/BS degree or equivalent education.
Knowledge/Skill to perform Mohs Frozen Sectioning/Staining.
Must have technical and mechanical skills to operate and perform preventative maintenance on complex lab equipment.
Knowledge of guidelines as established by JC, College of American Pathologists (CAP), and the National Society of Histotechnology.
Knowledge of EMR (EPIC) and Laboratory Information System (Beaker) and other basic computer programs.
Knowledge and ability to state and follow Universal Precautions as required in a laboratory setting.
Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), College of American Pathologists (CAP), and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JC) clinical laboratory safety regulations.
Experience performing complex laboratory procedures by following established protocols.
Knowledge of UCDH and Department of Dermatology Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements pertaining to the laboratory.
Special Requirements Must be able to lift 30 lbs. This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
