Program Description The solid organ transplant program is an organized, directed, and accredited postgraduate training program specifically designed to develop a high-level clinical practitioner. The program provides advanced training to a clinical pharmacist to assure that excellent pharmaceutical care is provided to solid organ transplant recipients in both the acute care and ambulatory care settings. The resident serves as a liaison between the surgery, nephrology, hepatology, cardiology, pulmonology services and the department of pharmacy services. Additionally the resident will develop skills as an educator, clinical researcher, and published writer. Program Goals Highlights of Experience The Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency in Solid Organ Transplant at University of Utah Health will provide a diverse experience balancing clinical, academic and research experiences in an academic medical center. Residents will learn the skills necessary to develop a patient-centered, evidence-based, collaborative practice. Graduates of our residency have gone on to careers in academia, clinical practice, research and pharmaceutical industry. The medical staff actively participates in residency training. The resident will have the unique experience of not only participating in the care of heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas transplant recipients, but will be part of a comprehensive specialty pharmacy service line.
