Under general supervision, the Program Coordinator II - Federal & State Grants will be responsible for administering and coordinating the federal and state grant programs under the supervision of the Financial Aid Manager of Processing (FAMP). The Program Coordinator II - Federal & State Grants will perform functions related to the technical and functional roles of administering the federal and state grant programs for all student. Manages the federal and state grant programs (Pell Grant, SEOG Grant, TEACH, TEXAS Grant, Exemptions and Waivers, and Hazelwood).
Manages al aspects of the Federal Grant Programs. Regularly troubleshoots financial aid processes related to eligibility. Coordinates the importing and exporting of Federal Pell grant and TEACH grant records via the Banner system and COD to ensure the accuracy of each federal grant record. Assists the FAMP in the Banner system set-up for the federal and state grants component(s). Resolves errors from import/export files from COD. Works with the business office to resolve federal and state grant exception reports. Reviews and resolves disbursement discrepancies related to federal grants, state grants, student eligibility, and the import and export of federal grant data. Conducts quality control on financial aid awards to ensure accuracy of financial aid awards packages. Monitors Institutional Waivers & Exemptions and Hazelwood.
Works with the FAMP, provides leadership and guidance to departmental working groups. Ensures that the administration of the federal grant and state program is consistent with the laws, regulations, and policies governing their administration and coordinates appropriately and timely communication to outreach staff as appropriate. Assists the FAMP with preparing reports for staff, University officials, and external organizations for internal and external audits.
Creates, manages, and revises the policies and procedures manual for the student state and federal grant program(s). With FAMP, provides leadership for identifying opportunities for innovating ways of processing federal direct and state loans. Provides direct support to the FAMP to carry out the recommendations, instructions, and initiatives of the Associate Director and Director of Financial Aid. Serves as a back up to the Federal Work Study Coordinator, Scholarship Coordinator, and the Loan Coordinator, Provides training to the staff on eligibility related office policies and procedures related to federal, state, and institutional regulations.
Coordinates and collaborates with the advising staff on research and analysis activities and reports regarding federal and state grant programs and related customer service and intervention. Coordinates with the advising staff to ensure that federal and state grant information is accurately conveyed to financial aid advisors in a timely manner. Provides support to the financial aid advising staff as needed.

Required Education and Experience:
Four years of related experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends.
Must not be in default or owe and overpayment of a federal and/or state aid program.
