Responsibilities This is a full time, career Clinical Research Coordinator position with an end date for funding purposes only of March 31, 2022. Under the direction of the Academic Program Management Officer and supervised by the Laboratory Research Supervisor-2, this position serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) for the ORALE COVID-19 study: Organizaciones para Reducir, Avanzar y Lograr Equidad contra el COVID-19 (Organizations to Reduce, and to Advance, and Lead for Equity against COVID-19), funded by the National Institutes of Health. The ORALE Study supports a COVID-19 mobile testing unit, located in two vans, that will rotate locations throughout the Central Valley of California, and a largescale survey study on the impacts of COVID-19 within the Latinx population. This position will be in the Central Valley of California. The Clinical Research Coordinator will oversee the day to day activities of the testing component of the study. Following the study protocol and strictly adhering to IRB and HIPAA regulations, the Clinical Research Coordinator will coordinate and facilitate subjects' participation in the research activities of this study which involves a visit to the UCD mobile COVID testing unit and a self-administered or oral interviewed survey. This position will primarily focus on obtaining biospecimens for COVID-19 testing, consenting and administering a survey, coordinating with community health educators for pre- and post-test health counseling, while assisting with other study tasks, such as data entry and biological sample processing.
Fluency in Spanish language (reading, writing and oral communications) required.
Experience establishing appropriate work standards to achieve the highest productivity.
Experience handling biohazard samples.
Demonstrated experience in the execution of human research protocols. Knowledge of IRB Administration policies and procedures and HIPAA regulations and ability to ensure compliance.
Experience with maintaining confidentiality and respect for protection of human subjects in research.
Excellent organizational skills to schedule and coordinate between 10-40 testing visits a day.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills to communicate with sensitivity and discretion in regard to Latinx and other racial/ethnic groups and indigenous and immigrant populations, as well as collaborators.
Demonstrated knowledge of the study objectives, procedures and policies desired.
Computer skill and experience with database programs for the effective management of research data.
Demonstrated ability to maintain positive and cooperative attitude even during unexpected schedule or priority changes, and retain interpersonal effectiveness.
Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision, following study protocol.
Ability to prioritize tasks and assignments based on the needs of the research team and the research participants, seeking input from the Academic Program Manager and Laboratory Supervisor when needed.
Must be flexible and available to work evening and weekend hours according to appointment scheduling needs
Ability to drive or travel to attend visits or other community and outreach events as needed.
Collection and handling of nasal swabs.
Frequent evening and/or weekend shifts and occasional overtime.
IRB and HIPAA certification must be completed once hired.
Valid California Driver's License.
Must participate in the DMV Pull Notice Program.
Frequent travel throughout the Central Valley and Sacramento regions.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
