About the Team
The Thoracic Surgery Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center provides specialized care for a range of conditions in the chest cavity, including acid reflux and hiatal hernia. Our team also offers advanced surgeries for lung and esophageal cancer. We use the latest techniques so our patients can recover faster and feel their best.
Thoracic surgery treats disorders in the chest cavity, which is the area between the stomach and the throat. Thoracic surgery treats both noncancerous (benign) and cancerous (malignant) conditions of the:
Trachea: The windpipe that connects the voice box (larynx) to the lungs
Lungs: The two organs in the chest that help you breathe
Esophagus: The food pipe that connects the throat to the stomach
Mediastinum: The area between the lungs that contains the heart, esophagus and trachea
Chest wall: The bone, fat and tissue cage around the organs in the chest

What will you be doing in this role?
As an Administrative Assistant and under general supervision, you will perform a full range of office clerical and secretarial duties to include typing, filing, receptionist duties, opening and distributing mail, copying documents, and other duties as assigned.
At this level incumbents are expectd to organize, priortize and perform work in a timely manner and within esablished guides, practices, and procedures. Incumbents frequently are cross-trained in other office functions and provide back-up coverage. Incumbents apply a detailed knowledge of assigned area of responsibility and general knowledge of department functions and the larger Health System in accomplishing work assignments.
The incumbent will provide administrative support to the academic group within the Thoracic Surgery department, which consists of five Faculty Physicians and three Physician Assistants. This position will assist with the organization of department files, correspondence, preparation of reports and documents, managing the academic group members' calendars to schedule different appointments, and with the coordination of meetings and travel arrangements.
