Responsibilities The Licensed Clinical Social Worker provides a wide range of clinical social services in the hospital and other areas as assigned. The LCSW works with all hospital patients, which include adult and pediatric patients of all ages. The LCSW adhere to and promote the ethics and values of the social work profession, using the NASW Code of Ethics as a guide to ethical decision making. This position will advocate for the patient's right to self-determination, confidentiality, access to supportive services and resources, and appropriate inclusion in decision making that affects their health and well-being. This individual will be an active participant and work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team by recognizing and offering services that address the biopsychosocial needs of the patient.
LCSW - Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with the California Board of Behavioral Science
MSW and three years of post-graduate experience in an acute medical hospital, mental health setting and/or health care clinic.
Skills, knowledge and ability performing psychiatric and psychosocial assessments on pediatric/adult/geriatric populations.
Knowledge of legal requirements and guidelines for providing psychiatric services including the appropriate use of 5l50.
Knowledge of and ability to effectively use current DSM manual.
Knowledge of and ability to perform mental status exams.
Knowledge of child abuse, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, etc. Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law, professional ethics policy.
Knowledge and understanding of individual, child and family development, human behavior and communication, the influence of culture and values in social work practice, psychotherapy, case management, and the relationship between social work practice and medicine.
Knowledge of community resources and referral protocols.
Special Requirements The LCSW works variable hours, which include weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of our patients This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
