The City Manager's Office is accepting qualified applications for a Public Safety Wellness Program Manager. The Position: The Public Safety Wellness Program (PSWP) consists of programs designed to assist Fire and Police Department (FD/PD) employees including, Lifeline, the Chaplain Program and the Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Program. The PSWP Manager manages, coordinates and oversees these programs, as well as, offers crisis intervention training and referral assistance to FD/PD Department employees.
The PSWP exists for the following purposes: • Immediate Crisis Intervention; • Improving employee wellness within FD/PD; • Providing educational training to the first responder related to the awareness, prevention, mitigation and treatment of mental health issues; • Initial intake assessment of employee’s related concerns; and • Where an employee’s situation requires on-going counseling/treatment and/or exceeds the scope of services normally provided by the PSWP Manager, the PSWP Manager may facilitate employee referral(s) to the appropriate community-based program or outside provider.
Fire Department Overview: The City of Henderson Fire Department provides all-hazard emergency response to the Henderson community. HFD is a full-service agency providing fire and rescue operations, emergency medical services including paramedic treatment and patient transportation, and fire investigations.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, human services or a closely related field
Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in public safety, crisis intervention, substance abuse counseling, social work and/or mental health counseling
Note: An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be considered
Possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
Must obtain and maintain a certificate in individual and group CISM within six (6) months of hire as a condition of continued employment
Desirable: Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (CADC) or above Substance Abuse Counselor in the State of Nevada
Desirable: an appropriate license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Rehabilitation Counselor, Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Desirable: Certification for treatment of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI)
