Swedish Health Services, a member of the Providence Health System, has grown into the greater Seattle area’s largest, most comprehensive integrated delivery system. SMG is the area’s largest multispecialty medical group with over 1,500 providers (approximately 65% specialty & 35% primary care) throughout the greater Puget Sound area. Serving close to 1.6 million patients annually, SMG has approximately 3,000 employees and annual net revenue of $373 million.
In independent research by the National Research Corporation, Swedish is consistently named the area’s best hospital, with the best doctors, nurses, and care in a variety of specialty areas. Swedish has created a number of specialty institutes including the Cancer Institute, Digestive Health Network, Heart & Vascular Institute, Neuroscience Institute, and Orthopedic Institute. Swedish’s innovative care has also made it a regional referral center for leading-edge procedures such as robotic-assisted surgery and personalized treatments in a variety of areas.
Reporting to the Chief Executive of the Physician Enterprise, Puget Sound, the COO provides overall leadership and direction for SMG in the development, implementation and management of the operations of the group to deliver the highest quality and cost-effective care. The COO is a key member of the senior leadership team, striving to achieve an integrated health care system that provides the highest quality health care in a fiscally accountable manner.
Key Skills and Experience:
Prior operations/P&L leadership for a multi-specialty group of relevant size, scale and complexity (350+ providers).
Prior management experience within a complex integrated delivery system.
Track record of success in leading standardization, innovation, optimization and integration initiatives.
Outstanding ability to collaborate with providers and lead through influence in a heavily matrixed environment.
Experience with practice acquisitions and practice growth.
Exceptional operational, business and financial acumen, combined with experience and knowledge of contemporary models of care delivery.
Experience and knowledge of value-based care.
