School of Medicine Department of Radiological Sciences Vascular and Interventional Radiology- Section Chief of Interventional Radiology
The UC Irvine School of Medicine, Department of Radiological Sciences is currently seeking a qualified candidate as Section Chief of Interventional Radiology in the Professor of Clinical 'X' Series or Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series, at the Associate, and Full Professor rank. Expertise in all aspects of Interventional Radiology is essential. Experience in clinical operations and strong interest in mentorship, research and teaching is required.
Criteria for the Professor of Clinical 'X' Series: The incumbent will be expected to conduct substantial research; provide patient care; teach fellows, residents, and medical students; and perform public and University service. Excellent teaching is essential criteria for appointment in this series.
Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The incumbent will be expected to teach fellows, residents, and medical students; provide patient care; contribute to scholarly activities; and provide public and University service.
Requirements: The Chief of Interventional Radiology will be a leader in the field with reputation in academic leadership and clinical excellence. The applicant will report directly to the chair of radiological sciences and will be a member of the departmental leadership team. The section chief will participate in departmental strategic planning and operations. Within the Interventional Radiology section, the Chief will oversee the day-to-day clinical operations of the section, mentor faculty, promote research, coordinate educational programs and work collaboratively with other faculty and section chiefs.
Candidates must possess an M.D. or D.O. degree. The applicant must be fellowship trained in Interventional Radiology and have a documented interest in research and teaching with excellent track record in scholarly activities. Candidates must be board-certified in diagnostic radiology and be licensed or be eligible for full licensure in the State of California.
The successful candidates must have excellent clinical, technical and interpersonal skills, as well as a commitment to education, research and patient safety. Responsibilities include clinical service, teaching, and research in a busy tertiary and quaternary care center with ACGME accredited IR residency programs (integrated and independent). Applicants must possess certification by the American Board of Radiology and be fellowship trained at an accredited Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship program. Certificate of Added Qualification in Vascular and Interventional Radiology and/or Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology certification or eligibility is required.
The University of California, Irvine Medical Center is a 411-bed tertiary and quaternary care hospital with all residencies. UCIMC is a Level 1 Trauma Center in urban Orange County.
